9. Sir, Bart2 High Sheriff Smith George (Later Bromley)-101950 (Abel I , Thomas I , John , William , William ) died in 1760.
He is later Pauncefote, in stirnet file4 on Smith. thepeerage.com. See DNB for Sir Julian Pauncefote qv. Christie on non-elite mps, p. 26. Burke's Peerage for Allendale. Burke's P&B for Bromley-Wilson. He is created Bart, 31 Oct 1757. He is of East Stoke, Notts. He is presumably Bart1. Leighton-Boyce, p. 20, table, Smiths the bankers. His eldest son assumed name of Bromley.
George married (1) wife1 Howe Mary-35735 daughter of Visc5 Howe, Hon MP, Major Howe William-6523 and Of Carswalls Pauncefote Elizabeth-28118 on 18 Aug 1747. Mary was born in 1725. She died on 18 May 1761.

Mention of a house Freame Barclay and Freame in which one David Barclay was a partner. He has firm Wilberforce and Smith at Hull. Note that his brother-in-law is Wm Wilberforce. A line here produces a Governor of W. Aust. GEC, Peerage, Carrington, p. 62 notes, Smith and Payne are first seen as bankers from a London directory, for 1759. Abel married Of Warwickshire Bird Mary-11325 daughter of Of Barton Bird Thomas-11321 and Bird Elizabeth-42251 in 1745. Mary was born in 1725 in Circa. She died on 4 Apr 1780.

He is of Aldermanbury. He establishes his own banking house of Samuel Smith and Son. His fr is London goldsmith and London agent to family bank, is a younger son of Thomas Smith founder of the Nottingham bank. He is of Lothbury.
